Choosing Your Wedding Cake |
Yes the majority of our cakes can be a combination of different cake types and rich fruit doesn’t always have to be on the bottom! Please contact us to discuss your requirements.
We freshly bake all our delicious cakes on our premises and use only the finest of ingredients (no packet mixes here!) From using free range eggs, salt free butter to the highest quality Belgian chocolate, we make every effort to create the perfect cake.
Firm Favourites:
These are our most popular cakes. Perfect to use as a combination.
Our fruit cake is made from all natural ingredients including unsalted butter, muscavado sugar, almonds, whiskey, cherries and quality sun dried fruits. We slow bake the cakes in a lightly steamed oven to ensure a moist and delicious cake. Our rich fruit cake is then covered in a layer of marzipan followed by a layer of sugarpaste.
This cake is fast becoming a standard choice for wedding cakes, it is generally liked by all because of its light flavour. Our vanilla madeira is always made fresh on our premises to ensure a soft, moist and light texture. It is split and spread with a layer of raspberry preserve followed by a layer of butter cream, whipped from pure unsalted butter and icing sugar. We can even add a subtle flavouring of your choice such as lemon or orange. All cakes being covered with sugarpaste are covered with a layer of marzipan first.
Although this is not a cake in the general sense, it is proving very popular as an alternative. It is made of a combination of biscuits and high quality chocolate as well as fruit, cherries and nuts. All cakes being covered with sugarpaste are covered with a layer of marzipan first.

Speciality Choices:
Please remember when catering for large numbers of guests that not all guests will be as passionate as you for some of the more unusual flavours.
A gorges moist chocolate cake with the texture of a chocolate brownie. It is split in the middle and filled with chocolate ganache buttercream. This cake is highly recommended if being used as a dessert. All cakes being covered with sugarpaste are covered with a layer of marzipan first.
Spicy carrot cake with rum soaked sultanas, walnuts, coconut and spices. This cake is filled with a layer of orange butter cream. All cakes being covered with sugarpaste are covered with a layer of marzipan first.

All cakes which are covered with sugarpaste are designed to have a thin base layer of marzipan first.
PLEASE NOTE - We cannot guarantee that our products are nut free as we cannot guarantee that our supplier's products do not contain nuts. Also our cakes are baked and iced in an environment that uses nuts. If you have an allergy to nuts, we
recommend you do not consume our products.
- All cakes which are covered with sugarpaste are designed to have a thin base layer of marzipan first.
There are several reasons why we do this:
- Freshness - it seals the cake and keeps your delicious cakes to their very optimum.
- Show through - the marzipan limits any show through on the icing from the cake underneath.
- Structure - it gives a stacked cake a more robust structure.
- Finish - a base layer of marzipan helps us achieve a much smoother finish with the icing.
- Taste - we think it enhances the cake too!
All wedding cakes are individually designed which means it is impossible for us to set exact prices. However we do have a wedding cake price guide and most of our designs fall into this price range. Click here.
We ice rich fruit wedding cakes however there is only a small discount if you provide your own rich fruitcake. The reason for this is that 90% of the cost is based on the number of hours we spend decorating your cake.
Wedding Cakes are measured in inches ranging from 4”- 12”. The most popular sizes are 6”, 8”, 9”, 10” and 12”. The size of your wedding cake is sometimes determined by the number of guests you are inviting. Do you want to give cake to evening guests as well, perhaps you want to take some to work or send some slices to neighbours or relatives?
The most popular wedding cake is a 3 tier in sizes 6”, 8”, 10” (approximatly 160 guests), if you need more cake what about a medium size 3 tier in 6”, 9”, 12” (200+ guests). Even bigger again is an 8”, 10”, 12” but this is quite a large cake. If having a small reception your cake will look more impressive if it consists of two smaller tiers rather than one large tier. There is also an option of a plain iced cutting cake to provide extra portions. Alternatively a Styrofoam/false cake can be used to provide bulk if a bigger looking cake is required but actual cake is not needed.

Wedding Fruitcake size guides are traditionally based on 2.5cm (1 inch) Square pieces. However we have found that cake fingers (or coffee portions as they are now know) for weddings are cut smaller than this and the table above gives a rough guide to the number of servings each cake will yield. Cake size will also depend on when you when you want to serve it, traditionally the cake was served after the meal however we find that most couples now serve their cake during the evening reception instead. You should also talk to your reception co-ordinator after all they are the ones that have the experience of cutting and serving wedding cake .
We can provide cutting cakes at a reduced cost to help you serve your guests. With bigger weddings it is often better (design and price wise) to order a small or medium sized wedding cake plus a cutting cake rather than a large wedding cake.

Booking Your Wedding Cake |
We take orders up to 11 months in advance. Dates can book up quite quickly please visit our "Check Availability" page to see if your date is booked out. This page is not always up to date so please contact use to confirm that your date is still available. In order to maintain the highest standards we limit the number of wedding cake orders we accept during a given week. Bookings therefore are by deposit on a first come first served basis. A cake is only deemed booked once a deposit has been received. (We must stress that simply enquiring about a date, visiting our showroom or the taking of your details is not a booking. The only way to ensure a booking is by deposit.)
Date Deposits/Reservations If you would like us to make your Wedding Cakes but have yet to decide on your chosen design you can still book your date. You can pay the deposit of E50 which secures your cake date (and the current price list) but gives you more time to make your cake choice. This deposit is non transferable and non returnable.
Your can order your cake by visiting us and looking at some of our display cakes and photographs of previous commissions (this is by appointment only), over the phone or by email. For full details on how to order your cake please click here.
€50 is required to confirm your booking and secure your date in our diary. The balance is due 7 days prior to the wedding.
We accept payment by Cheque (made payable to Celebrations), MasterCard, Visa, American Express, Laser or Cash. Payments can also be made securely via our online store - click here-
For cancellations made up to 7 days prior to the wedding the deposit of €50 will be forfeited. If the deposit paid was larger than €50, the amount paid minus €50 will be refunded.
Cancellations within 7 days of the wedding will be subject to an 80% cancellation charge.
Wedding dates and deposits cannot be transferred.

Getting your Cake to the Reception |
Do you deliver?
We deliver locally only. We are based Waterford and delivery is available for a fee of €10.00 to any hotel within a 10km radius or Waterford City. This distance includes Tramore, Dunmore and Faithlegg House Hotel. For weddings outside Waterford City, we are happy to make your cake as long as you can arrange your own delivery or collection.
We deliver cakes around lunchtime the day of the wedding and are happy to set up the cake as long as the cake table is ready. You must ensure that the cake table is ready from midday and that is is dressed with a clean tablecloth. Due to our tight delivery schedule if a table is not ready we cannot wait and the cake will be left in its boxes in the hotel. Cakes are transported in cake boxes and these will be left (next to the cake) for the hotel staff to store for you.
Please read our "setting up the cake on the day" section for more information on displaying your cake at the reception.
Cakes are ready for collection from 1pm the day before the wedding. We will ensure the most appropriate boxing option is chosen for your cake. Most cakes are presented on an iced board and are boxed ready for collection either as a stacked cake all in one, or in individual boxes according to the style of your cake. Standard stacked wedding cake boxes range from 14" cubed to 18" cubed.
For all our cakes (and defiantly for chocolate or if it is a particularly hot day), then we suggest that your cake should be transported in the boot of an air-conditioned vehicle but not a saloon, as the cake must have a cool air flow. We do not recommend that cakes be transported on seats or on passenger's laps as they are not fully level surfaces however if cakes must be transported on a seat then something should be placed underneath the cake towards the back of the seat to level the cake. (A jumper is ideal for this).
Remember to drive slowly - No fast starts or sudden stops and bouncing over speed bumps in the road will ensure your cake reaches the venue safely!
At your venue your cake should be kept upright and level at all times and should be stored at room temperature or in an air-conditioned room. **Do not refrigerate** your cake and under no circumstance store or display the cake in front of a window or by a direct heat source.
Now that you have chosen your perfect cakes don't forget about where to put it. You will need to ensure the venue sets aside a table covered with a crisp clean table cloth. Think about dressing the cake table for example a swath of tulle or coordinating material or a sprinkling of fresh or paper rose petals will really show off your cake and enhance the photo opportunity.
We suggest that our cakes (particularly those that are a separated style e.g. with pillars) are not displayed on or near dance areas or upon sprung dance floors as movement could make the cake unstable. Also avoid areas of heavy guest traffic in case your cake is accidentally knocked.
If you cake is being displayed in front of a window ask your venue to pull a curtain across the room for part of the day to protect the cake until you arrive.
Once they are set up our cakes should not be moved until they are being dismantled for cutting up.

After your Wedding |
If a tier is on its own board and has not been cut: Fruit - up to 3 months. All other cakes 3 - 5 days
However if a cake has been cut then we advise you to eat it straight away. As all cakes are made fresh they can be frozen.
(Stacked cakes do not keep as long as the icing is disturbed when tiers are removed and air is introduced into the cake).
